How do I schedule my patient?
Please print and complete the MRI order form and fax it to 515.222.0544 or phone in the order to 515.222.0550. We will call your patient to schedule the appointment.
How soon can the scan be performed after scheduling?
We offer same-day service. Most patients are done within 24 to 48 hours of scheduling, if needed. We make every attempt to accommodate emergencies.
Should I order contrast material (Gadolinium) for my patient’s scan?
There are some very specific indications for its use, such as in the postoperative lumbar spine, pituitary dysfunction, intracranial tumors with metastases, spinal tumors (NOT bony metastases), and assessing patients with multiple sclerosis receiving drug therapy.
Gadolinium has dramatically improved vascular imaging, and we use it in all patients studied for peripheral vascular disease; aortic, renal artery and mesenteric artery disease; and in many patients with suspected carotid or vertebral artery stenosis.
It does not particularly increase the sensitivity of the exam in patients being evaluated for headaches and seizures, but in specific cases we may choose to administer it.
